Pezeshkian Calls for Deeper Islamic Unity in Eid al-Adha Call with Saudi Arabia
WANA (Jun 05) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Thursday afternoon, during which he extended his warm congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and expressed sincere appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in organizing the Hajj pilgrimage, particularly in facilitating the rituals for Iranian pilgrims.
Pezeshkian described the spiritual and divine nature of the Abrahamic Hajj as a powerful symbol of Muslim unity and a gathering of the Islamic Ummah around a shared faith, book, and prophet.
He expressed hope that this spiritual bond would inspire stronger cohesion among Islamic nations and lead to greater dignity, honor, and prosperity for the Muslim world.
The Iranian president reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s readiness to expand friendly and brotherly relations with all Muslim countries, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on shared religious principles and good neighborliness.
He stressed that Iran is determined to pursue closer ties, deepen cooperation across all fields, and work toward common Islamic interests, regional peace, and the well-being of Muslim nations.
Pezeshkian once again thanked the Saudi government for its hospitality toward pilgrims and its effective management of the Hajj, conveying his warm greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In response, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed appreciation for President Pezeshkian’s congratulatory message and offered his own Eid al-Adha greetings to the Iranian government and people.
He voiced hope that this blessed occasion would bring prosperity and blessings to the Islamic Ummah, particularly to the two major nations of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Echoing President Pezeshkian’s remarks on Islamic unity, the Crown Prince described recent progress in bilateral ties as positive and meaningful.
He emphasized that not only Iran and Saudi Arabia, but all Islamic countries stand to benefit from this forward-moving dynamic. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to enhance engagement and expand bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also held separate phone calls with the leaders of Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iraq, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Egypt, and Tunisia exchanging greetings and reaffirming commitments to strengthen bilateral relations and support the people of Gaza amid ongoing Israeli aggression.
Eid al-Adha is the second of the two main festivals in Islam alongside Eid al-Fitr. It falls on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijja, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar. Celebrations and observances are generally carried forward to the three following days, known as the Tashreeq days.
