WANA (Jul 01) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that all decisions related to negotiations and major national developments have been made within the framework of the Islamic Republic’s official policies and in full coordination among the country’s decision-making institutions.

 

Speaking in Tehran, Pezeshkian responded to criticism regarding the handling of the negotiations and stressed that, contrary to some claims, his administration has not deviated from the policies of Iran’s Supreme Leader. He said that if Iran’s Supreme Leader had instructed that negotiations or related meetings should not take place, the government would not have proceeded with them.

 

The Iranian president also provided details about the decision-making process surrounding the negotiations. He said the Supreme Leader had emphasized that if three-quarters of the members of the Supreme National Security Council supported the process, the negotiations could continue. According to Pezeshkian, at the relevant meeting, 12 out of the council’s 13 members supported moving forward.

 

Pezeshkian said the Iranian government still considers dialogue and international engagement to be tools for advancing Iran’s interests, provided that the country’s “national rights and interests” are safeguarded. He added that Tehran would not retreat under external pressure, while continuing to pursue diplomatic channels within the framework of its national interests.

 

The Iranian president also emphasized the importance of internal cohesion and coordination among the government, security institutions, and armed forces, warning that creating divisions within state structures could undermine national unity.
