WANA (Sep 24) – Masoud Pezeshkian, currently in New York, conveyed a clear message of adherence to the principles of the Islamic Republic regarding the United States by reposting remarks made the previous night by Iran’s Supreme Leader, who had said: “No wise politician endorses negotiations under threat.”

Pezeshkian, Iran’s President, attending the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, shared on his personal page the Supreme Leader’s statement that: “The American side seeks a negotiation whose outcome would be the shutdown of Iran’s nuclear activities and enrichment. This is not negotiation; it is coercion. No honorable nation accepts negotiations accompanied by threats, and no wise politician would endorse it.”

This stance comes at a time when in recent days, certain political circles inside and outside Iran have tried to highlight the idea of a “possible meeting” between the Iranian president and his U.S. counterpart as a promotional scenario.

By reposting the Supreme Leader’s words, Pezeshkian signaled two key points: first, Iran’s commitment to its red lines and foreign policy principles regarding the United States, and second, an emphasis on the rational and dignified position underlined in the Leader’s recent remarks.

Many observers interpret Pezeshkian’s move as a sign of alignment within the government in continuing the strategy of “honorable negotiations, not negotiations under pressure or threat.”
