Pezeshkian: Iran Will Not Hesitate to Confront Aggressors
WANA (Mar 06) – Iran’s president said the country has no hesitation in confronting aggressors, while describing Israel and the United States as the main sources of insecurity and instability in the region.
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, made the remarks during a phone call on Sunday evening (March 15, 2026) with French President Emmanuel Macron. Discussing what he described as illegal attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran,
Pezeshkian said the aggressors continue to strike various targets, including civilian sites.
He referred to recent attacks on the Iranian islands of Khark and Abu Musa, stating that the operations were carried out using the territory of several Persian Gulf countries.
According to Pezeshkian, allowing land and facilities to be used by the United States for attacks against Iran contradicts international law and the principle of good neighborliness.
Pezeshkian added that the Iranian nation, government, and armed forces have never sought tension or conflict, but emphasized that Iran will decisively and legitimately defend its territorial integrity and national security with public support and national capabilities.
The Iranian president also blamed Israel’s actions — including what he described as killings in Gaza and Lebanon — as well as two wars involving the United States against Iran, for the region’s instability.
He criticized the stance of several European countries for supporting Israel and the United States and called on them to adhere to international law and the rule of law.
French President Emmanuel Macron, for his part, stressed the need to end the war and reduce tensions. He also expressed concern about escalating conditions in the region, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.
The two presidents also discussed consular issues, including prisoners from both countries.
