Pezeshkian: No Foreign Power Should Disrupt Iran-Armenia Ties
WANA (Aug 30) – President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that many of Iran’s concerns over recent developments in the Caucasus region — particularly the presence of foreign forces — have been eased following clarifications and assurances from Armenian officials.
Speaking in Tehran during a meeting with Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, Pezeshkian emphasized that relations between the two neighbors must be safeguarded from outside interference.
The president expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his recent trip to Yerevan, calling it “successful and fruitful.” He highlighted the constructive talks and positive agreements reached during the visit, noting that progress on the North–South Corridor with Armenia’s active support marked an important step toward greater economic and political convergence among Eurasian Union members.

Pezeshkian stressed that accelerating bilateral agreements, especially in the transport sector, was one of the key achievements of the visit. He also called for broader trade and joint investment opportunities, urging that the volume of bilateral commerce be raised several times above its current level.
Beyond trade, he said, the two countries could expand into joint production of high-tech, biotech, and nanotechnology products by harnessing the capacities of academic and scientific elites.
“We must ensure that no foreign power can undermine the friendly and strategic relations between our two nations,” Pezeshkian added.
For his part, Armen Grigoryan welcomed Iran’s commitment to developing ties, describing the president’s visit to Yerevan as highly significant for Armenia. He reaffirmed the strategic nature of Iran–Armenia relations, stating that Yerevan is ready to sign a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Tehran.
Grigoryan also praised the active role of Iranian companies in Armenia, voicing hope that major infrastructure projects in his country would be realized with their participation. He said Armenia is prepared to increase trade with Iran to several times its current level.
