Pezeshkian: No Limits on Expanding Ties with Belarus
WANA (Aug 20) – The President of Iran, stating that there are no limitations for expanding relations with Belarus, said: “Today, more than ever before, we are in need of cooperation in order to overcome unilateralism and its destructive consequences.”
At noon today, Wednesday, Masoud Pezeshkian, in continuation of his visit to Belarus, at a joint press conference with the President of this country, while expressing gratitude for the gracious hospitality of the government of Belarus, its President, and his colleagues, declared:
“Relations with Belarus are being pursued at the highest possible level, and this trip is one of the turning points in relations between the two countries, the results of which will certainly be witnessed in the future and in the growing course of cooperation.”
The President added, “Belarus is an important country in the strategic Eurasian region and a reliable partner for the Islamic Republic of Iran. The comprehensive roadmap of cooperation between the two countries (2023–2026) has clearly outlined the course of relations, and we will strive to fully implement it. The Islamic Republic of Iran assigns high priority to the development of relations with the Republic of Belarus.”
Referring to today’s fruitful talks with Mr. Lukashenko and the good agreements reached, Pezeshkian stated: “We consulted and exchanged views regarding bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and in many matters we share common perspectives.”
“I would like to emphasize that the Islamic Republic of Iran places no restrictions on strengthening its relations with Belarus, and in this regard, we support the full implementation of the roadmap of bilateral relations that was signed during the previous visit of the President of Belarus to Tehran, he added.”
The President, noting that, fortunately, over the past year the officials and ministers of the two countries have had very good interactions and have taken major steps toward expanding relations, pointed to the recent holding of the Joint Economic Commission of the two countries in Minsk, and said:
“We hope that with the documents signed during this trip in various economic, cultural, and legal fields, we can further consolidate our common and beneficial cooperation.”
Pezeshkian listed the development of relations in customs matters, undertaking joint investments, increasing the volume of goods and passenger transit, resolving issues related to the activities of private sectors, and supplying the needed goods of both parties as subjects of agreement, and added: “We hope, through the efforts of both sides, to see the results of these steps in the expansion and growth of bilateral trade.”
The President, stating that “in the fields of media and people-to-people communications, and with the aim of presenting a real image of the two countries and becoming acquainted with the history, culture, and existing capacities in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Belarus, we are ready for more effective cooperation,” declared: “In this regard, several cooperation documents were signed during this trip.”
Pezeshkian also stated: “I would like to thank Belarus for its resolute positions in the face of the aggressive attacks of the Zionist regime and the United States against Iranian soil and peaceful nuclear facilities, and for condemning these attacks.”
He stressed: “These actions were a clear aggression against international law and an explicit violation of the UN Charter, which we are all committed to observing.”
The President said: “In the field of regional economic cooperation, we also reached the conclusion that strengthening and consolidating the position of economic structures and independent emerging organizations such as the Eurasian Economic Union, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization can create new capacities and opportunities for members in various areas of economic and political cooperation.”
Pezeshkian emphasized: “In conclusion, while stressing the development of cooperation with the Republic of Belarus, I must point out that the Islamic Republic of Iran places no limitations on expanding relations with Belarus. Today, more than ever before, we are in need of cooperation in order to overcome unilateralism and its destructive consequences.”
President of Iran, Pezeshkian, also wrote on social media: “The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to the development of relations with Belarus, and the existing roadmap between the two countries will soon turn into a comprehensive document of strategic partnership.”
