WANA (Apr 30) – Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, stated in a message marking National Persian Gulf Day that responsibility for any insecurity in this strategic region rests with the United States and Israel.

According to official sources, he emphasized that the Persian Gulf “is not a place for the imposition of unilateral foreign will,” adding that its security can only be ensured through cooperation and coordination among the coastal states.

Pezeshkian described the Persian Gulf as an inseparable part of Iranian national identity and a symbol of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He noted that this waterway has long played a vital role in global trade and civilizational exchange.

Referring to recent developments, the Iranian president said that Iran’s “adversaries” have shifted their approach, adopting a strategy of “maritime containment” and imposing restrictions on sea trade routes as a new tool of pressure against the country.

He stressed that such actions violate international law and warned that any attempt to impose maritime restrictions would not only harm the interests of regional nations but also threaten global peace and stability, ultimately being doomed to fail.

Pezeshkian also criticized the presence and interventions of foreign powers in the region, calling them a source of tension, and reiterated that lasting security in the Persian Gulf can only be achieved through regional cooperation and mutual respect for national sovereignty.
