WANA (Sep 03) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his official visit to China, stressed that the Supreme Leader has placed special emphasis on strengthening Tehran–Beijing ties and has tasked him with pursuing this matter.

In a meeting with Huang Hou, a standing member of the Communist Party of China, Pezeshkian said: “I hope that by establishing a joint working group, the agreements between the two countries will quickly move into the implementation phase.” Highlighting the importance of multilateral cooperation, he described the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an effective tool for countering unilateralism and added: “Humanity today is thirsty for justice, fairness, and respect for the law. Global civilization is rooted in the rich history and culture of countries such as Iran and China, and through these civilizations, nations can live with dignity.”

The Iranian president further underlined the need for interaction and mutual respect between countries, saying: “We have come together to uphold the rule of law and strengthen cooperation among nations.”

For his part, Huang Hou expressed appreciation for Iran’s positive stance at the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, noting: “China is ready to put into action the understandings you reached with President Xi Jinping. Just as we supported Iran in the past, we will continue to stand by Iran regarding issues of sovereignty and national interests.”

He added: “The commitments made to you by President Xi will certainly be fulfilled. Strengthening multilateral cooperation is essential. China upholds the credibility of the United Nations and the post–World War II international order, and rejects bullying. The shared views of China and Iran pave the way for expanding our cooperation.”
