WANA (Mar 01) – Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, announced that the Leadership Council has officially begun its work as of today, emphasizing that it will firmly continue the path of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In a video message on Sunday, March 1, 2026, the President offered condolences on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and stated: “The United States and Israel should know that assassinating the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution will bring them nothing but disgrace.”

Describing the Leader’s martyrdom as “a great tragedy for the country,” Pezeshkian said that although the loss is heavy and sorrowful, the path of awakening, freedom, and justice—outlined by the prophets and divine leaders—will not be halted by the loss of individuals. Citing the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, he stressed that divine leaders are messengers of truth and justice for nations, and that their path will continue.

Referring to Article 111 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President stated that the temporary Leadership Council has begun its duties as of today and, relying on God, will resolutely follow the path of Imam Khomeini and the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

He also expressed gratitude for the large public gatherings in mosques and streets, calling them a sign of national unity in the face of “enemy plots.” Pezeshkian emphasised that the Iranian people, through solidarity and active presence, will neutralise the conspiracies of their adversaries.

In another part of his remarks, he referred to the actions of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that they are responding forcefully to enemy attacks and “will crush their bases.”

In conclusion, Pezeshkian prayed for the success of officials in continuing the path of “truth and justice,” asking God to grant mercy to the soul of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution and to keep the Iranian nation steadfast on this path.
