WANA (May 13) – The Iranian President and the Minister of Sports visited the national team’s training camp and met with the players.

On the eve of the national football team’s departure for the World Cup, the Iranian President Pezeshkian visited the National Teams’ Camp on Wednesday afternoon to personally observe the final stages of the players’ preparations.

Addressing the members of the national team, Pezeshkian stated: “What matters to us is sincere endeavor, responsible effort, and the utilization of all capacities for the pride of our beloved Iran. The result will be the product of will, tact, effort, and, of course, divine providence; however, what the Iranian nation expects from its children is to stand honorably and fight with all their might in the field of competition.”

The President told the national team players: “Today, you are not merely a sports team; rather, you are the representatives of the hope, will, pride, and unity of the Iranian nation on a global stage. The people feel proud when they see their children fighting for the name of Iran with all their power, zeal, discipline, and sincerity.”

Pezeshkian added: “Victory is sweet and valuable, but even in the event of failure, what will endure is the fighting spirit, honor in competition, and the preservation of national dignity. Defeat in sports arenas is not the end of the road; it is the beginning of a new experience to rise, become stronger, and continue the path.”

Finally, Pezeshkian wished the national players success, saying: “We hope you head to these competitions with authority, cohesion, and an inspiring spirit, return with dignity and pride, and once again hoist the proud flag of Iran before the eyes of the world.”

Iran’s Minister of Sports, Donyamali, also noted: “Despite media pressures and political atmospheres, the national team’s preparation camps were held in a professional and cohesive environment. Today, a unique spirit of empathy, motivation, and responsibility has formed among the players and coaching staff.”

Donyamali added: “The national team players have sworn to appear on the field with all their being for the dignity, credit, and pride of Islamic Iran, and the events of recent months have made their resolve to defend the name of Iran even firmer.”

During the ceremony, the national team’s No. 12 jersey was presented to Pezeshkian. The national team is scheduled to go to Enghelab Square in Tehran at 20:30, where a public farewell ceremony will also be held.
