WANA (Jul 06) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will travel to Iraq tomorrow to participate in the funeral procession for the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, which is scheduled to take place in Iraq on Wednesday.

 

Reports indicate that the body of the late leader will arrive in Najaf tomorrow following the Qom procession, accompanied by President Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the Leader’s eldest son.

 

The funeral procession for Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, alongside Seyedeh Boshra Hosseini Khamenei, Mesbaholhoda Bagheri, Zahra Haddad-Adel, and Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani, began at 6:00 a.m. today with a massive turnout of mourners.

 

The vehicle carrying the bodies began its journey at 8:00 a.m. today, Monday, moving from the Mahdiyeh of Imam Hassan at the intersection of Azadi Street and Yadegar-e-Imam Expressway toward Azadi Square.

 

Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh, head of the funeral organizing headquarters in Tehran, announced that the procession in Tehran will conclude strictly by 5:00 p.m. today, as organizers are scheduled to transport the body to the holy city of Qom before the evening Maghrib prayers.

 

The funeral procession for the late Leader of the Revolution and his family is scheduled to take place in the holy city of Qom on Tuesday, July 7.

 

The bodies will then be transferred to Iraq, where special farewell and funeral ceremonies will be held in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala on Wednesday, July 8.

 

Following the ceremonies in Iraq, the final funeral procession will take place in the holy city of Mashhad on Thursday, July 9, 2026, where the late leader will be laid to rest at the holy shrine of Imam Reza.
