WANA (Sep 27) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, referring to his bilateral meetings with several European leaders and the issue of the snapback mechanism, said: “In New York, we negotiated with Europeans on matters related to the snapback and, on the surface, reached an agreement. However, after their talks with the Americans, they began making excuses.”

Speaking on Saturday evening (September 27), Pezeshkian outlined the achievements of his trip to New York and participation in the UN General Assembly. He noted: “In about fifteen minutes at the General Assembly, we presented the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on regional and international issues, particularly the crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza.”

He continued: “The martyrdom of more than 65,000 innocent people and the human blockade of Gaza’s population—who have no access to water, medicine, or humanitarian aid—is a human catastrophe that, unfortunately, has been met with silence from international bodies.”

Criticizing the UN Security Council, the president said: “To this day, not a single firm resolution has been passed against the Zionist regime. This shows that the world is in the hands of powerful states, and concepts such as human rights and the rights of women and children are mostly used for propaganda.”

Referring to his bilateral meetings, Pezeshkian added: “We met with the President of France, as well as officials from Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and the President of the European Council, and expressed our positions. They also voiced opposition to the current situation, but in practice, no action is taken. Dialogue with the Americans was also accompanied by constant pretexts. In New York, we negotiated with Europeans on the snapback issue and appeared to reach an agreement, but after they spoke with the Americans, they backtracked.”

He noted that in sessions with think tanks and research centers, the message was clear: “The United States does not want a strong Iran and seeks to gradually weaken us. This should make us more vigilant.”

The president also mentioned his interviews with international media outlets such as Fox News, NBC, and Al Arabi (Qatar), saying: “We expressed Iran’s positions clearly and openly in these discussions.”

On the nuclear issue and the claims of some countries, Pezeshkian stressed: “We have declared our readiness for dialogue and transparency regarding our nuclear program, but the other side, with its constant excuses, shows no real willingness to resolve the issue.”

He added: “One should not think that Iran can be brought to its knees through pressure and sanctions. Even countries without oil and gas resources have managed to pursue development. We too, by relying on our internal capacities, our experts, specialists, and our people, will find ways to solve problems—and if no path exists, we will create one ourselves.”
