Pezeshkian Warns Against Attacks on Iran from U.S. Bases in the Region
WANA (Mar 11) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that any attack against Iran launched from United States military bases located in regional countries would be unacceptable.
Pezeshkian made the remarks during a phone call with Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of Oman, as the two leaders discussed recent regional developments following military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran, as well as the broader regional and international implications.
During the conversation, Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Oman’s constructive role in regional diplomacy and its efforts to reduce tensions. He also thanked Muscat for its involvement in diplomatic consultations, including mediation efforts related to talks between Tehran and Washington.
Referring to recent developments, the Iranian president said that Iran had been engaged in negotiations with the United States, with Oman playing an active role in facilitating the process. However, he claimed that the outcome of those diplomatic efforts was what he described as a “brutal military attack” by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Pezeshkian also referred to an incident in the city of Minab, claiming that at the beginning of the conflict 168 children and students were killed in a strike on a school. He said the event demonstrated that, in his view, Washington and Tel Aviv do not adhere to international or humanitarian norms.
The Iranian president reiterated that Iran places great importance on relations with neighboring countries and considers the expansion of regional cooperation a key priority of its foreign policy. At the same time, he stressed that any military attack carried out from U.S. bases in the territory of regional states would not be tolerated.
Pezeshkian also addressed reports regarding a strike on the port city of Salalah in Oman. He said Iran remains committed to expanding relations with its neighbors, particularly Oman, and emphasized that Iranian military operations are directed only at locations that have been directly involved in attacks against Iran. He added that the incident would be carefully investigated.
For his part, Sultan Haitham reaffirmed Oman’s positive and consistent stance toward Iran and emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cooperation to preserve stability.
The Omani ruler also warned against attempts to create divisions among Islamic countries and stressed the need to prevent further escalation of conflict and the weakening of regional security.
