Pezeshkian’s Message to Neighboring Countries/ Thanks Spain for Responsible Stance
WANA (Mar 05) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a message to the leaders of neighboring countries, emphasizing Iran’s respect for their sovereignty and reaffirming the belief that regional peace should be ensured by the countries of the region.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pezeshkian wrote: “Honorable leaders of our friendly and neighboring countries, we have sought to avoid war through diplomacy with your support, but the military aggression by the U.S. and Israel left us no choice but to defend ourselves. We respect your sovereignty and continue to believe that regional peace must be ensured by the countries of the region.”
In a separate message, Pezeshkian thanked Spanish authorities for their stance in response to the blatant human rights violations committed by the U.S. and Israel, as well as the military attacks against Iran.
He wrote: “The responsible behavior of the Spanish government in confronting the clear human rights violations by the U.S.-Israeli coalition and military aggression against countries including Iran shows that ethics and conscientious awareness still exist in the Western world. I express my gratitude to the Spanish authorities for their position.”
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez refused to allow the United States to use Spanish military bases for potential operations against Iran.
According to reports, fifteen U.S. aircraft, mostly refueling planes, were redirected from Spain to Germany and France. Madrid stated that its bases would not be used for operations outside bilateral agreements or international law.
Sánchez condemned all “illegal and blind” attacks and called for an immediate end to escalating tensions in the Middle East, urging a return to diplomacy and dialogue.
