WANA (May 30) – Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has officially condemned recent sanctions imposed on it by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, dismissing the measures as ineffective.

The authority strongly condemned the U.S. Treasury’s move, stating that being sanctioned by a nation whose leadership prides itself on piracy serves as a clear validation of the PGSA’s positive performance.

The statement further asserted that the United States cannot achieve control over the Strait of Hormuz through sanctions, having already failed to do so on the battlefield and through diplomacy.

Despite what it described as tension-inducing actions by the United States in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the PGSA emphasized that it continues its uninterrupted work to facilitate maritime traffic by reviewing and granting transit permits to non-hostile vessels.

The authority concluded its statement by announcing that it will soon publish official statistics covering its first month of operations.
