WANA (May 08) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, held a telephone conversation on Friday evening to discuss key regional developments.

During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister updated his Turkish counterpart on the latest diplomatic efforts and initiatives by the Islamic Republic aimed at reaching a definitive conclusion to the war.

Referring to recent U.S. military movements in the Persian Gulf and statements made by senior U.S. officials, Araghchi stated: “Recent activities by U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf and various ceasefire violations have increased suspicions regarding the American side’s motivation and commitment to the diplomatic process.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister characterized the U.S. approach as a factor that weakens diplomacy and increases the Iranian public’s distrust of U.S. intentions. He noted that ending illegal actions and moving away from unreasonable demands are necessary for the current diplomatic process to move forward.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan noted the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and affirmed Turkey’s support for the ongoing diplomatic process.
