WANA (Mar 09) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday evening to discuss regional developments following the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, as well as its regional and global consequences.

The Iranian president referred to attempts by Israel and the U.S. to create divisions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and its neighbors, as well as accusations circulated by media outlets affiliated with them claiming that Iran had carried out missile attacks against the friendly and brotherly country of Turkey.

He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always declared its readiness to reduce tensions in the region, provided that the airspace, territory, and waters of neighboring countries are not used to launch attacks against the Iranian people.

During the call, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan once again expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and conveyed his sorrow and sympathy over the deaths of a significant number of innocent civilians, particularly the children of Minab School.

The Turkish president also wished success to Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Erdoğan further emphasized that the Turkish government will continue its efforts to reduce tensions in the region. He noted that Turkey has repeatedly stated that interference in Iran’s affairs is unacceptable, and that escalating tensions among regional countries does not serve the interests of neighboring states nor Iran’s long-term interests.

He added that Turkey has never considered confronting Iran in any way and that it understands the difficult conditions facing the country. Erdoğan stated that Turkey is ready, to the extent of its capabilities, to contribute to efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

“In this period, more than ever, we need to open the doors of diplomacy,” Erdoğan said in conclusion.

At the end of the conversation, the Iranian president thanked the friendly and brotherly country of Turkey for its positions and efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, as well as for its condolences over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader and a number of innocent Iranian citizens.

He added that Iran is ready to establish a joint team to investigate claims made by hostile countries and regimes regarding alleged missile attacks by Iran on Turkey, in order to prevent propaganda from affecting relations between the two friendly and brotherly nations.
