Phone Call Between the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia
WANA (Apr 20) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, held a telephone conversation today, Monday.
In this phone call, Iran’s Foreign Minister briefed his Russian counterpart on regional developments and the continuous and repeated violations of the ceasefire by America.
Referring to the continuation of America’s illegal and provocative actions against Iranian ports and vessels, including the assault on the container ship Touska and the taking of its crew as hostages, Iran’s Foreign Minister stated:
“America’s unlawful behavior and the contradictory positions of its leaders are incompatible with the claim of diplomacy; while monitoring the behavior of the opposite side, the Islamic Republic of Iran will make the appropriate decision to protect its interests and national security.”
During this telephone call, bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia to help restore peace and stability to the region was discussed and views were exchanged, and our country’s Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Russia’s announcement of readiness to continue consultations to strengthen regional stability and advance joint diplomatic initiatives.
