WANA (Jan 30) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss recent regional developments and bilateral relations.

 

According to the Turkish Presidency, the two leaders reviewed the state of relations between Ankara and Tehran and exchanged views on the escalating military tensions in the region, stressing the importance of managing crises through diplomatic channels.

 

During the call, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey is ready to play a facilitating role between Iran and the United States in order to help reduce tensions and contribute to the resolution of existing disputes. He described this approach as part of Turkey’s broader policy of supporting regional stability and security.

 

The Turkish president also announced that, as part of ongoing consultations, he would meet later the same day with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is currently visiting Turkey, to discuss issues of mutual interest.

 

The phone call comes amid rising security challenges in the Middle East, as regional actors intensify diplomatic efforts to contain tensions and prevent further escalation.
