WANA (Jun 21) – The results of a new poll in Israel’s occupied territories indicate that an overwhelming majority of Israelis view Iran as the winner of the recent war and the subsequent understanding reached with the United States, while holding a negative assessment of the conflict’s impact on Israel’s long-term security.

 

According to the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel, a survey conducted by the Agam Research Institute in cooperation with the Hebrew University found that 92.1 percent of respondents believe Iran emerged as the victor in the recent war and the agreement that followed with the United States.

 

The poll also showed that 82.9 percent of respondents said the conflict had weakened Israel’s long-term security, while 86 percent expressed pessimism about its outcome and consequences.

 

The findings further revealed that 72.5 percent of Israelis do not believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims that Israel achieved major accomplishments and eliminated an existential threat. In addition, 87.8 percent said Israel either failed to achieve its objectives or achieved only part of them.

 

Regarding Netanyahu’s performance, 56.4 percent of respondents described his management of the war as weak or unsuccessful.

 

According to The Times of Israel, 48.2 percent of those surveyed also supported resuming large-scale military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, even if such a move were to heighten tensions and lead to confrontation with U.S. President Donald Trump.
