Putin and Pezeshkian Hold Phone Call
WANA (Apr 12) – The Kremlin has announced a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which they discussed recent developments in the Middle East, bilateral relations, and a number of international issues.
According to the press service of the Russian presidency, the two leaders reviewed the regional situation, with a particular focus on tensions surrounding Iran. During the call, the Russian president emphasized Moscow’s readiness to contribute to finding a political and diplomatic solution to de-escalate tensions and help resolve ongoing disputes, stressing Russia’s willingness to support mediation efforts aimed at achieving a fair and lasting peace.
In response, the Iranian president expressed appreciation for Russia’s principled positions in international forums and its efforts to help reduce regional tensions, while also thanking Moscow for its humanitarian assistance. Pezeshkian also extended Easter greetings to Putin and to the Orthodox Christian community in Russia.
The two sides further underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation within the framework of good-neighbourly ties between Tehran and Moscow. They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the comprehensive development of political, economic, and regional cooperation.
Reports also indicate that regional developments and Iran’s international engagements were among the topics discussed, with both sides agreeing to continue consultations on these matters in the future.
