Putin Follows Up on Implementation of Strategic Agreements with Iran
WANA (May 27) – Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, met with Nikolai Patrushev, Special Assistant to the President of Russia, during his visit to Moscow. The two discussed the expansion of bilateral relations within the framework of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic treaty.
On Tuesday evening, Ahmadian and Patrushev reviewed the progress of key agreements and joint cooperation, emphasizing Tehran and Moscow’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
Ahmadian described Iran-Russia economic and regional cooperation as moving toward growth, stating: “Tehran and Moscow have high potential for enhancing advanced scientific cooperation, goods transit, and energy exchanges.”
He added that the two countries will continue their consultations on major regional developments.
Putin Personally Monitoring Implementation of Strategic Agreements with Iran
Patrushev, referring to bilateral collaboration along the International North-South Transport Corridor, highlighted the need to accelerate the implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway project with joint participation.
He told Dr. Ahmadian:
“President Putin is personally following up on the implementation of strategic agreements, particularly in the fields of energy and transportation. We must work to remove obstacles in these areas.”
The meeting included a broad range of topics, with both sides underlining the necessity of taking the next steps to finalize major projects.
Dr. Ahmadian arrived in Moscow on Tuesday afternoon at the official invitation of Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, to attend the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues and to hold bilateral talks with Russian officials and representatives from other participating countries.
In addition to delivering a speech at the conference, Ahmadian will hold separate bilateral meetings on the sidelines to review the latest progress in Iran-Russia strategic relations.
The main session of the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues will take place on Wednesday, May 29, in Moscow, with the participation of over 129 delegations from 105 countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran. The primary agenda is the formation of a new, fair, indivisible, and inclusive architecture of equal security.
