Putin’s Special Envoy Meets With Larijani
WANA (Oct 21) – Alexander Lavrentiev, the Special Envoy of the Russian President for Syrian Affairs, met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday for talks and consultations.
Lavrentiev arrived in Tehran on Monday, where he also met with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister highlighted the excellent level of bilateral relations and the growing cooperation between the two countries in bilateral, regional, and international arenas. He expressed appreciation for Russia’s firm and principled stance in the UN Security Council opposing the misuse of the JCPOA dispute resolution mechanism to reinstate previously lifted Security Council resolutions related to Iran’s nuclear issue.
The Russian President’s envoy, for his part, underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between Iran and Russia and stressed the need for continued consultations between officials of the two countries on regional and international matters.
