WANA (Oct 12) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf has reaffirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports every initiative aimed at ending war crimes and genocide in Gaza.

Speaking at the open session of the Iranian Parliament on Sunday, Qalibaf said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any initiative to end the war crimes and genocide in Gaza that is backed by the Palestinian people.”

He added that a permanent ceasefire, an end to the aggression and occupation of Gaza, withdrawal of Israeli forces, lifting of the blockade, and the unrestricted entry of food, medicine, and essential supplies are among the immediate demands of the Palestinian people and resistance groups — demands that Iran also strongly supports.

Qalibaf noted that over the past two years, the Iranian Parliament has actively worked with international and Islamic parliaments to advocate for a ceasefire and an end to the genocide in Gaza.

He described the Gaza ceasefire as a “defeat” for what he called the Israeli Prime Minister’s efforts to recover from the “major failure” of the Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.

According to Qalibaf, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had set several goals — including eliminating Hamas, freeing hostages by force, and displacing Gaza’s population — but after two years of war, famine, and the resistance of Gaza’s people, “the world rose against these 21st-century Nazis,” and both Israel and the U.S. were forced to accept a ceasefire without achieving any of their stated objectives.

Qalibaf went on to say that Israel has become “one of the most hated entities in the world,” adding: “Despite the heavy human cost, the Palestinian nation has imposed its will on the criminal regime. Today, Zionists are among the most despised figures globally.”

He continued, saying the world has entered “an irreversible era of awakening”, where “the Israeli war criminals are isolated and despised, while Palestine stands proud and free.”

Calling for international prosecution of those responsible for atrocities in Gaza, Qalibaf urged: “Governments, international courts, and judicial bodies must pursue the trial of the criminal leaders of the Zionist regime and those responsible for the genocide in Gaza, and prevent these institutions from being degraded by a handful of unrestrained criminals.”

He stressed that the Palestinian people and the Axis of Resistance remain vigilant and ready to respond to any “deception, betrayal, or further aggression.” “The international community must see itself as responsible and committed to preventing further violations by the occupying regime, just as Palestinians and resistance groups remain alert,” Qalibaf said.
