WANA (Aug 27) – Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has announced that the country’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will travel to Tehran to discuss ways to reduce regional tensions and lay the groundwork for dialogue.

 

Majed Al Ansari said that Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, will visit Tehran on Thursday for talks focused on reducing tensions and creating conditions for dialogue.

 

Al Ansari added that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz will be among the key issues discussed during the Qatari prime minister’s visit.

 

He said the visit underscores Qatar’s position that diplomacy is the best path toward strengthening regional security and stability.

 

Al Ansari also noted that the prime minister will discuss the need to restore maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to the conditions that existed before February 28.
