WANA (Jun 24) – Following Iran’s missile attack on the U.S. airbase in Doha, Qatar summoned the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Today (Tuesday), the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Ali Salehabadi, Iran’s ambassador in Doha, declaring the move a response to last night’s attack on the U.S. military base located on its soil.

Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, stated during his meeting with the Iranian ambassador that Iran’s attack was entirely inconsistent with the principle of good neighborliness and the close relations between Qatar and Iran.

He also emphasized the need for an immediate return to dialogue and diplomatic avenues to resolve remaining disputes and prevent further escalation.

Iran, for its part, stressed that the attack on the U.S. base in Qatar was a legitimate and defensive response to American aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Last night, Iran targeted the Al Udeid airbase, the headquarters of U.S. air operations in Qatar, with six missiles.

The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterated that it will not leave any violation of its territory unanswered, and warned that any repetition of aggression will receive a strong response.
