WANA (Mar 23) – The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom has strongly criticized the Egyptian Al-Azhar University for its “biased stance” in defending the interests of the United States and its proxy rulers in the Gulf region.

 

The statement condemned Al-Azhar for failing to distinguish between the oppressors and the oppressed during U.S. and Israeli military actions, calling it a “serious and irreparable blow” to the credibility of the historic institution and warning that it would provoke widespread protest among rights advocates.

 

The statement reaffirmed Iran’s longstanding role in supporting the Palestinian cause, defending the independence and dignity of Muslim nations, and promoting Islamic unity.

 

It emphasized that Iran’s responses to what it described as “brutal and child-killing attacks” by the U.S. and Israel are purely defensive, and that Al-Azhar’s portrayal of events reflects a “weakness in political analysis” rather than reality.

 

The full statement from the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom reads:

 

“The surprising and illogical stance of Al-Azhar University in fully defending U.S. interests and the proxy rulers of the ‘Great Satan’ in the Persian Gulf, who have allowed an independent Islamic country to be subjected to military aggression, is deeply regrettable and damaging for this academic and religious institution.

 

That Al-Azhar has failed to recognize the side of truth in the face of the criminal attacks by the U.S. and Israel has caused a severe and irreparable blow to its credibility and will undoubtedly provoke the protest of many truth-seekers.

 

Iran’s response to these brutal, child-killing attacks is entirely defensive, and Al-Azhar’s condemnation of Iran highlights the weakness of its political analysis.

 

Religious scholars at Al-Azhar, if they wish to see the liberation of Jerusalem and protect the Islamic community from division, must first recognize the main enemies of Islamic unity — Israel and the United States — and understand their conspiracies.

 

Iran has always led in supporting the Palestinian cause, defending the independence and dignity of Muslim nations, and promoting Islamic unity.

 

Al-Azhar’s misrepresentation of reality will never tarnish Iran’s image as a supporter of justice, but it does harm Al-Azhar’s credibility among Islamic communities.

 

The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom continues to call for Islamic unity and warns that true dignity and success for Muslim nations cannot be achieved without distancing from imperialist powers, particularly the United States.

 

Scholars worldwide, especially at Al-Azhar, must remain vigilant against U.S. deceit and focus on the Palestinian cause as a unifying issue. Israel and the United States cannot prevail against Iran’s strength and the steadfastness of its people.

 

Recognizing the oppressed and supporting the fight for Jerusalem remains a crucial test for the Islamic world, and the righteous will ultimately prevail with divine assistance.”
