WANA (Oct 11) – Renowned Iranian writer and translator Razi Hirmandi has received the Astrid Lindgren Award Certificate of Recognition in the translation category.

 

The award was presented during the 23rd Congress of the International Federation of Translators (FIT), held on September 4, 2025, at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

 

The certificate, written by the chair of the award’s jury, was read by Professor Elinor Cornelius during the ceremony. It was awarded to Hirmandi in recognition of over five decades of dedicated work in translation, including the Persian rendering of more than 170 works by celebrated authors such as Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss, and Leo Tolstoy.

 

The statement also highlighted Hirmandi’s significant role in expanding Iran’s cultural outlook through his translations.

 

The Association of Children and Young Adult Writers of Iran congratulated Hirmandi on this achievement, praising his lifelong contribution to literature and translation.
