Reports of Blurred U.S. Military Bases on Google and Apple Maps
WANA (May 04) – Some social media users have reported that images of several U.S. military bases in the Middle East appear blurred or shown with reduced detail on mapping services such as Google Maps and Apple Maps.
According to these users, bases that were reportedly damaged following Iranian strikes—carried out in response to attacks by the United States and Israel—are no longer displayed with their previous level of clarity on these platforms. The issue has raised questions about the reason behind these changes.
Some users have suggested that the move may have been made at the request of U.S. authorities. Earlier reports had also claimed that Donald Trump had asked technology companies to limit the display of details related to U.S. military bases, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, CNN has reported that at least 16 U.S. military bases in the region were targeted in attacks, with some reportedly rendered inoperable.
In addition, a U.S. media activist on the social platform X claimed that satellite imagery providers, including Google and Apple, have applied restrictions to the display of certain bases, including Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
