WANA (Sep 16) – Iranian National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei has said that Tehran has no trust in the United States, calling for Washington to take practical steps to restore confidence.

During a meeting with Bafel Talabani, president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Rezaei stressed the need to address what Iran describes as terrorist groups operating in the region, strengthen border security and expand economic cooperation.

Rezaei also warned about what he described as Israeli activities in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and emphasized the need to further develop economic ties.

He said Iran had “no trust whatsoever” in the United States and argued that Washington would need to take practical action and demonstrate that it could be trusted.

Talabani, for his part, welcomed efforts to expand economic, security and diplomatic cooperation and stressed the importance of resolving the issue of armed groups and strengthening security along the border.
