WANA (May 08) – The CEO of the Russian state corporation Rosatom announced that no attacks have been carried out against the facilities surrounding the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant and expressed the company’s intention to fully return its personnel to the site.

 

Alexei Likhachev stated on Friday that the overall situation at the Bushehr nuclear site in Iran is calm. He noted that no strikes have been observed on the facilities surrounding the plant.

 

Likhachev further highlighted that “Unit 1 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant continues to operate at full capacity.”

 

He added that Rosatom is prepared to swiftly and fully return its staff to Iran, provided there is no risk of renewed military conflict.

 

The Rosatom chief also confirmed that the organization’s subsidiaries are proceeding as scheduled with the manufacturing of equipment for the plant’s new units.

 

Furthermore, Likhachev emphasized that Rosatom plans to begin shipping reactor equipment for Bushehr’s Unit 2 to Iran in 2027.

 

According to the CEO, the construction site for the new units is returning to normal operations, with approximately 2,200 local employees having already returned to work.
