WANA (Nov 17) – The CEO of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom announced on Monday that construction of the second and third units of Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is progressing.

 

Alexey Likhachev, Rosatom’s Director General, told Russia’s Rossiya-1 TV channel that the company is currently building new units at the Bushehr facility.

 

According to RIA Novosti, he stated: “Two units with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts each (Units 2 and 3) are currently under construction. The work is proceeding according to schedule.”

 

Earlier, during the visit of Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, to Russia, it had been agreed that the Rosatom chief would soon travel to Iran to follow up on previously reached agreements and personally review the progress of Units 2 and 3 of the Bushehr plant.

 

Likhachev added that a total of 3,000 specialists are involved in building these new units, “around 700 of whom are Russian citizens.”
