WANA (Jun 16) – Esmaeil Baghaei, Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, condemned recent Israeli strikes on Iranian territory in a series of posts on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), accusing the Israeli regime of deliberately targeting civilians, including children.

 

In one post, Baghaei directly challenged Israeli narratives:

 

“Israeli propaganda: ‘Surgical strikes, no residential damage.’

Reality: In just three recent strikes in Tehran, 73 women and children have been killed. In the Chamran Residential Complex alone, 20 children lost their lives, and 10 more remain trapped under the rubble after 48 hours.”

 

He continued: “Their ‘surgical accuracy’? It means targeting families, kids, and women… That’s the routine barbarity.”

 

Children’s Hospital Targeted

In a follow-up post, Baghaei revealed further alleged atrocities: “The Israeli regime has killed many children during the past 3 days of its war of aggression on Iran and has also targeted Hakim Children’s Hospital, affiliated with Tehran University of Medical Sciences.”

 

He added a chilling reference to past remarks: “They’re ‘killing children as a hobby,’ as once admitted by Yair Golan, former deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army.”

224 Killed Since Start of Israeli Strikes, Majority Civilian

The Iranian Ministry of Health has announced a significant civilian toll following 65 hours of continued Israeli attacks, with 224 people confirmed dead, including women, men, and children, and over 1,481 injured.

 

Health Ministry Spokesperson’s Statement:

“The tragic outcome of the false claim that ‘Israel has no issue with the Iranian people and only targets military sites’ has been made painfully clear. Of the 1,481 injured and martyred, more than 90% are civilians, with 1,277 currently hospitalized in university medical centers across the country.”

 

“So far, 522 individuals have been discharged, but 224 lives have been lost—including many women and children.”
