Russian Staff Evacuation Planned at Bushehr Nuclear Plant
WANA (Apr 05) – Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom, announced that another group of Russian personnel working at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran will be evacuated next week.
He stated that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has resumed communication with Rosatom and is keeping the company informed of its actions based on the current situation. According to Likhachev, Rosatom’s top priority remains ensuring the safety of its personnel at the facility.
Likhachev added that Rosatom has taken all necessary measures to preserve and maintain the construction site of the new units at the Bushehr plant. He also expressed hope that the Russian staff currently being evacuated would arrive in Armenia later tonight.
He further urged all parties to make every effort to prevent an escalation of tensions surrounding the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. Likhachev noted that Rosatom stands ready to provide Iran with necessary advisory support, drawing on its experience at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
