WANA (Oct 02) – Iranian para-athlete Saeid Afrouz claimed the gold medal in the javelin throw at the World Para Athletics Championships, setting a new world record in the F34 category.

 

On the sixth day of the championships, Afrouz competed against top international rivals, recording throws of 37.75m, 39.00m, 40.00m, 39.50m, 41.52m, and 39.20m. His best throw of 41.52 meters surpassed his own previous world record by 36 centimeters, securing him the championship title and the gold medal.

 

So far, Team Iran has won a total of eight medals at the championships: three golds by Amirhossein Alipour, Elham Salehi, and Saeid Afrouz; two silvers by Mehdi Olad and Hajar Safarzadeh; and three bronzes by Amanollah Papi, Elham Salehi, and Zeynab Moradi.
