WANA (Jun 07) – The annual Sar’ein Horse Show Festival, held with the support of relevant institutions to showcase purebred horses and top riders in Sar’ein County, Iran, has now been officially registered in the Iranian National Tourism Events Calendar.

 

This provincial-level event, recognized as an official tourism festival by the Islamic Republic of Iran, takes place each year on June 18–19.

 

The festival attracts equestrians from dozens of provinces and is hosted in the scenic town of Sar’ein. Its continued success and growing popularity among enthusiasts not only boost local tourism but also hold promise for the development of horse breeding as a specialized industry, as well as related sporting activities.

Alongside the main event, a handicraft and local products bazaar is set up with the support of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization, offering visitors a chance to explore regional traditions and artisanal goods.

 

Equestrianism has seen a remarkable rise in popularity over recent decades in Iran. Once a niche pursuit, horseback riding is now widely embraced as both a healthy competitive sport and a leisure activity, drawing an increasing number of fans every year.

 

Sar’ein, located 25 kilometers west of Ardabil at the foot of Mount Sabalan (elevation 4,811 meters), is famed for its natural hot and cold mineral springs, traditional bathhouses, stunning scenery, pleasant climate, lush orchards, modern hotels, and recreational facilities. These features have made it a renowned tourist destination not only within Ardabil Province but across Iran—and even among travelers from neighboring countries.
