WANA (Mar 31) – A satellite research station in the city of Salmas was struck in an air attack carried out by U.S. and Israeli forces, according to a local official.

Ali Alaei, governor of Salmas County in Urmia, said the facility—recently launched to monitor and receive satellite data—was targeted hours earlier.

He added that parts of the structure were damaged, but no casualties have been reported at the site.

The Salmas space station was inaugurated in January 2026 in the presence of Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Sattar Hashemi, and Iran’s late Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, marking the start of its operations.
