WANA (Jul 03) – A spokesperson for Yemen’s Armed Forces claimed that several fighter jets belonging to the Saudi-led coalition entered Yemeni airspace early Friday morning and attempted to prevent an Iranian civilian aircraft from landing at Sana’a International Airport.

 

According to the spokesperson, the incident occurred at 5:20 a.m., and the aircraft was carrying more than 200 Yemeni citizens, including patients, wounded individuals, and stranded civilians. The spokesperson further stated that Yemen’s air defense forces intercepted the fighter jets and launched several defensive missiles, forcing them to leave Yemeni airspace.

 

The spokesperson also warned Saudi Arabia that any further violations of Yemeni airspace or military actions against the country would be met with a “comprehensive response,” claiming that such a response could target vital facilities and infrastructure.

 

Meanwhile, several media outlets reported that an Iranian passenger plane had flown to Sana’a earlier in the day, transporting a number of Yemeni citizens, including patients and individuals stranded outside the country, back to Yemen. Reports also indicated that on its return flight, the aircraft transported another group of Yemeni citizens along with a delegation of Yemeni government representatives to Tehran.

 

At the same time, the spokesperson for Yemen’s Armed Forces criticized the continued restrictions imposed on Sana’a International Airport and called for an end to what was described as the “Saudi-American blockade” on Yemen. The spokesperson stressed that Sana’a would use “all legitimate measures” to end the situation.
