WANA (May 19) – A second convoy of humanitarian aid has been dispatched from Karbala to Iran, carrying 10 trucks loaded with food supplies, medical equipment, and relief items intended to support civilians affected by the Ramadan War.

Sayed Mustafa Mortada Diauddin, Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Abbas, said the convoy was sent to help meet part of Iran’s medical and humanitarian needs.

The shipment comes as part of a broader wave of Iraqi humanitarian assistance to Iran following a call by Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani urging support for the Iranian people. In recent weeks, a previous convoy consisting of 38 trucks carrying 690 tons of aid — including 670 tons of food and 20 tons of essential medical supplies — had already been delivered to Iran.

According to officials overseeing the operation, the new shipment includes 137 tons of food supplies, 18 tons of medical equipment, 20 dialysis machines, and one bulldozer. The aid is expected to be handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

Officials involved in the initiative said the assistance reflects humanitarian and religious solidarity with those affected, while also reinforcing ties between the people of Iraq and Iran.
