WANA (Jul 02) – High-ranking international delegations, including senior officials from China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, are traveling to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

 

China Sends High-Level Envoy

According to Chinese sources, He Wei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress—China’s top legislative body—will travel to Tehran to represent the country at the funeral services.

 

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei previously confirmed extensive foreign participation, noting that numerous countries have announced their attendance at various levels, including heads of state, parliamentary speakers, and foreign ministers.

 

“Officials from all neighboring countries will be present at this ceremony,” Baghaei stated. “A significant number of nations from outside the region will also be participating.”

 

Funeral Schedule and Burial Details

The body of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution is scheduled to be laid to rest on Thursday, July 9. The burial will take place at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, following funeral processions in Tehran and the holy city of Qom.

 

Regional Leaders Confirm Attendance

Pakistan: The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially announced today that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Tehran tomorrow to pay his respects and attend the farewell ceremonies for the late Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

 

Afghanistan: The Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration is also scheduled to arrive in Tehran to participate in the memorial and funeral services.

 

India: A high-level Indian delegation will travel to Tehran on Friday to attend the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Indian authorities announced. The delegation will be led by Pabitra Margherita and includes Syed Ata Hasnain, the Governor of Bihar.
