Senior Pakistani Delegation Heads to Tehran with U.S. Message and Talks Agenda
WANA (Apr 15) – Amid ongoing regional diplomatic activity, a high-level political and security delegation from Pakistan, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, has departed Islamabad for Tehran. Informed Pakistani sources reported that the delegation left moments ago, carrying a new message from the United States to Iranian officials.
According to these sources, the delegation includes senior political and security figures and is expected to hold discussions with Iranian authorities on the current state of interactions between Tehran and Washington. The primary focus of these talks is expected to be planning for a second round of negotiations that may take place in the coming days.
Pakistani media sources also indicated that Islamabad is being considered as a potential host for the next round of talks, with details to be discussed during meetings in Tehran. These developments come as speculation grows over the resumption of negotiations between Tehran and Washington on Pakistani soil.
At the same time, reports citing Western media have pointed to the possibility of these talks being held in Islamabad in the near future. While no official confirmation has been issued, recent diplomatic movements suggest increasing momentum in this direction.
According to the announced schedule, the delegation is expected to be received in Tehran shortly by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, with formal discussions set to begin thereafter.
Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei statedtoday that message exchanges between Iran and the United States, facilitated by Pakistani mediators, have continued on a daily basis since the Iranian delegation returned from Islamabad on Sunday.
He also noted that the arrival of the Pakistani delegation in Tehran is “highly likely,” adding that it is expected to provide a detailed briefing on its discussions with the American side and help further align regional perspectives.
