Senior UAE Official Holds Phone Call with Iranian Parliament Speaker
WANA (Apr 15) – Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, held a phone call with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, to discuss ways to reduce tensions in the region.
According to the UAE state news agency (WAM), the call between the UAE official and the Iranian speaker focused on regional developments and efforts to ease ongoing tensions.
In a separate statement, Ghalibaf’s office confirmed that both sides reviewed the current situation in the Persian Gulf region and addressed bilateral issues between Tehran and Abu Dhabi. The two officials also exchanged views on de-escalation measures and explored prospects for expanding bilateral relations in the fields of security and economic cooperation.
The phone call is reported to be the first high-level contact between an Emirati official and an Iranian counterpart since the start of the so-called “Ramadan War,” during which the UAE has played a significant role as a partner of the United States.
