WANA (Jun 22) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the latest round of negotiations held in Switzerland under the Islamabad Memorandum framework as positive and constructive, saying the parties had agreed on a 60-day roadmap toward a final agreement.

 

In a post on X on Monday, Sharif said the first meeting of the high-level committee established under the Islamabad Memorandum had concluded successfully in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

 

He said the talks were conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere and resulted in encouraging progress, including agreement on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days, the establishment of a high-level committee for political oversight, and the launch of further technical negotiations.

 

Sharif expressed appreciation to both the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their continued commitment to constructive engagement. He also thanked all brotherly and friendly countries for their valuable support in advancing what he described as a historic process.

 

The Pakistani prime minister stressed that Pakistan would continue to play its sincere role in promoting dialogue and diplomacy in pursuit of a peaceful and lasting solution.

 

The first round of high-level Iran-U.S. negotiations, attended by representatives of Qatar and Pakistan as mediators, concluded in Switzerland after a full day of talks with an agreement on a 60-day roadmap and the formation of technical working groups. The continuation of the process would depend on the political will of the parties involved.

 

The Iranian delegation, headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, left the negotiation venue on Monday after approximately 18 hours of intensive talks and consultations.
