Shooting Incident in Tuyserkan, Iran
WANA (May 28) – On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, a deadly shooting occurred near the Kermanshah–Tuyserkan road in western Iran. An armed man climbed onto the rooftop of his house and opened fire on civilians passing by. The incident left eight people injured, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition. A 75-year-old man lost his life.
According to the governor of Tuyserkan, the shooter was a 33-year-old unmarried man. He was subdued and arrested by police forces shortly after their arrival at the scene. The attacker’s family stated that he had taken psychoactive drugs before the incident. After being detained, he was transferred to a hospital, where medical and psychiatric evaluations are currently underway.
The head of Tuyserkan’s police confirmed that the assailant had fired from the rooftop of his home toward pedestrians. Security and law enforcement forces, in coordination with the governor’s office, quickly took control of the situation.
The governor of Hamadan province ordered an immediate investigation and stressed the importance of closely monitoring the medical treatment of the injured while identifying all aspects of the event. According to the provincial office’s public relations department, treating the wounded has been prioritized, and regular reports on the situation are being sent to the governor’s office.
Investigations into the shooter’s motive are still ongoing, and no official reason has yet been announced. The governor of Tuyserkan expressed appreciation for the public’s calm and cooperation following the incident, emphasizing that their response played a key role in managing the crisis.
