WANA (Jun 12) – A military source has confirmed that the explosions heard in Sirik County, located in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province, were related to an operation by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy against a vessel that attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz despite existing restrictions.

 

According to the source, the IRGC Navy had issued multiple warnings and navigation notices following what it described as hostile actions by the U.S. military along Iran’s southern coastline. The notices warned vessels against entering the Strait of Hormuz and stated that any attempt to transit the waterway under the current circumstances would be considered a threat to maritime security.

 

The source said that the vessel involved in the incident was an oil tanker that had been identified as disrupting maritime order. Following warnings from the IRGC Navy, the tanker was compelled to comply with the announced restrictions and cease its attempt to continue through the strait.

 

The military official also urged ship captains and masters not to be influenced by calls encouraging transit through the Strait of Hormuz and advised them to remain at designated anchorages in accordance with official notices issued by the IRGC Navy.

 

The source added that the IRGC Navy is continuously monitoring and patrolling the Strait of Hormuz and will take firm action against any vessel that attempts to enter or pass through the strategic waterway in violation of the restrictions currently in place.
