WANA (Aug 14) – The 86kg category competitions at the Asian Junior Weightlifting Championships concluded with no lifter able to surpass the records set by Iran’s Mahsa BeheshtiP, bringing the Iranian representative’s overall continental medal count to six.

Beheshti—who had already claimed three gold medals in the youth +77kg category a day earlier with a 113kg snatch, 148kg clean and jerk, and a 261kg total—successfully added another three gold medals in the junior 86kg category.

As the continental championship continued on Friday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Iranian lifters took to the stage in the +86kg division, concluding their campaign with one silver and two bronze medals.

Hosna Amiri delivered a strong performance in the snatch event. After successfully lifting 100kg and 104kg, she failed her third attempt at 106kg. Her 104kg mark earned her the snatch silver medal.

In the clean and jerk, Amiri lifted 120kg on her opening attempt before failing her second and third tries at 126kg and 138kg, respectively. She finished third overall with a total of 224kg, securing the bronze medal in total weight.

Meanwhile, teammate Roya Nouri-Nezhad successfully managed 96kg and 98kg in the snatch, but missed her third attempt at 105kg, finishing fourth with a top lift of 98kg.

In the clean and jerk, Nouri-Nezhad lifted 121kg overhead on her first try but missed both subsequent attempts at 127kg. Nevertheless, her performance was sufficient to capture the clean and jerk bronze medal. She placed fourth overall with a total of 219kg.

In total, Amiri (one silver, one bronze) and Nouri-Nezhad (one bronze) secured three medals for Iran in the +86kg category.
