Six Iranian Crew Members of “Touska” Vessel Freed Following Iran’s Diplomatic Efforts
WANA (Apr 29) – According to a report by a reputable domestic Iranian news agency, six Iranian crew members of the container ship “Touska” have been released following ongoing efforts by the Islamic Republic of Iran and have now returned to the country.
The report states that the United States had previously seized the vessel while it was en route to Iran—an action Iranian officials described as “an act of piracy.” At the time of the seizure, 28 Iranian crew members were on board.
Iranian authorities had earlier announced that, due to the presence of crew members and concerns for their safety, military action to free the vessel was not being pursued at this stage. However, official and diplomatic efforts to secure their release have remained a priority, alongside other necessary measures.
According to the information obtained, six crew members have been freed so far as a result of these efforts. Meanwhile, follow-up actions to secure the release of the remaining 22 Iranian crew members, who are still being held by U.S. authorities, are ongoing.
