Source: Iran Has Not Approved Any Agreement Text
WANA (Jun 11) – Despite claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that Tehran has agreed to the final text of a preliminary memorandum of understanding with Washington, informed sources indicate that no such approval has been granted by Iran.
A source familiar with the Iranian negotiating team stated that, contrary to Trump’s assertions, no draft text for a preliminary agreement with the United States has received final approval from Iranian authorities.
Earlier, Trump claimed on his Truth Social platform that Iran had agreed at the highest levels to the text of an initial memorandum of understanding. He later reiterated the claim in comments to the New York Post, saying that the document had been finalized.
These remarks come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, which recently experienced one of their most serious confrontations since the announcement of a ceasefire.
A Different Account of the Negotiations
According to information obtained from sources familiar with the talks, a draft memorandum had been largely finalized approximately two weeks ago and was awaiting final review and approval in both Tehran and Washington.
However, during the review process, Trump reportedly requested the addition of several new provisions, despite the fact that U.S. negotiators had already accepted the Iranian draft. In response, Iran informed intermediaries that it would not consider the revised version and effectively withheld any response to the new American proposal.
Subsequent regional developments, including tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz, incidents in southern Iran, and an attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs, effectively placed the negotiations on hold.

Qatari Mediation and a Return to the Original Draft
Sources say that on Wednesday, Qatari mediators re-engaged with both sides and conveyed that Washington had withdrawn its proposed additions and returned to the original draft—the same text that remains under review in Iran and has yet to receive final approval.
At the same time, Trump intensified his rhetoric and public messaging, seeking to portray the situation as if Iran had backed down under the pressure of military strikes and threats. However, according to sources familiar with the process, Iran has not yet delivered a final response, and it is the United States that has effectively reverted to its previous position.
Nevertheless, observers believe that because Washington has accepted the Iranian-proposed draft, the likelihood of the document eventually receiving approval from Iran’s decision-making authorities has increased. No official decision, however, has been announced so far.
