WANA (Jul 08) – Satellite tracking data reveals that commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has shifted entirely to Iranian-designated lanes after an Indian oil tanker was turned back from the southern, Omani-controlled route.

 

According to maritime tracking account MenschOsint, the Indian tanker attempted to transit through the U.S.-monitored southern corridor but was forced to reverse its course.

 

Maritime sources report that the United States has been attempting to direct commercial vessels through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz in violation of existing agreements.

 

This move has met with a decisive response from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy. Over the past 48 hours, five tankers attempting to use the route have been targeted.

 

Live monitoring of the vital waterway on Wednesday morning showed that all transiting vessels are now exclusively adhering to the shipping lanes designated by Iran.

 

The IRGC Navy continues to issue radio warnings to any vessels attempting to navigate through the Omani side of the strait, effectively closing off the southern route to commercial traffic.
