Statement on Attacks Against Iran’s Peaceful Nuclear Facilities
WANA (Sep 26) – On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and during the seventh meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter held in New York, a special statement was issued condemning the attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States of America against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this statement, the Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Group of Friends, recalling the previous statements of June 15 and June 24, 2025, as well as their joint letter to the UN Secretary-General, strongly condemned the armed attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. They declared such acts to be a blatant violation of the UN Charter, international law, and its fundamental principles, including the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and the prohibition on the use of force.
The statement emphasized that these attacks pose the risk of radioactive release and catastrophic environmental consequences, while also gravely undermining the credibility and integrity of the non-proliferation regime.
It further noted that such hostile actions jeopardize the peaceful use of nuclear energy and constitute a violation of the purposes of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in promoting and supporting the safe development and utilization of nuclear energy.
Recalling Security Council Resolution 487 and numerous General Assembly resolutions condemning the Zionist regime’s attack on Iraq’s nuclear facilities, the ministers underscored that the international community’s repeated condemnations of such aggressive policies remain valid and fully applicable to the regime’s recent actions.

The statement reaffirmed the inalienable right of all countries to research, produce, and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination, and stressed the need to provide effective assurances to developing countries against any threat or attack targeting their peaceful nuclear facilities.
The members also reminded that the international community must refrain from providing any form of assistance to the United States and the Zionist regime in carrying out armed attacks against Iran and its peaceful nuclear facilities.
They further reiterated their firm commitment to advancing the prohibition of attacks against peaceful nuclear facilities within the framework of the United Nations, and to confronting the unlawful and repeated policies of the United States and the Zionist regime in targeting such facilities.
The Group of Friends had earlier, immediately after the attacks by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, issued two statements condemning these crimes, and also addressed a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, reminding them of the responsibilities of the Secretary-General, the Security Council, and the General Assembly regarding such crimes, while registering the group’s statements as official UN documents.
